5 Mistakes you make with your social campaign

Everyone should have some sort of social media campaign. Social media is just that, a social event.  Your customers want to see who you are, get some great info, and share their experiences with you and their own followers. There is one or five major flaws I have seen in how businesses approach social media.

  1. Social media is just that – social. Don’t forget that your visitors want interactions, not unoriginal blog span and re-posts.
  2. You are not the focal point. Many of my favorite companies to follow are those who talk about other businesses, tips, industry news, etc…
  3. Respond! Your users may take to facebook, twitter, and more just to talk about you on a podium. Be sure to respond. Never call a user out, simply help or offer a logical explanation. This ensures other users will see your effort to interact with your clients, even when they are put on the spot.
  4. Be original. I hate seeing posts that are simply blog posts that are being sent out automatically to the social networks. Be human, post randomly and with a cause. Post about partner businesses, user stories, cool new products, behind the scenes.
  5. Never ever post about something off topic unless you are ready to also post something on topic. If you post irrelevant content, your users will likely see this as nonsense and spam, which will lead to unfollowing.

Social media is easy to maintain and get a good community going, you just need to be on topic, original, and human. The rest will come naturally.

Review: Appply – Woothemes

I got a chance to take a look at the latest Woothemes creation Appply. This theme is targeted toward the business theme market with its elegant style and its product featuring slider. The  theme also comes in a variety of colors, and is fully compatible with Woocommerce. I loved the clean layout and style of this theme. As with most Wootheme products, there is plenty of options and built in functionality. If you are an app developer or if you are looking to sell a single or small group of products, this theme would work great.

Final Thoughts

I love Woothemes, they have become an elite theme creator and have brought some of the best products to the WordPress market. The only gripe I would have is the way they add custom post types into their themes. I rarely use them all and would almost rather those features be easily turned off so the dashboard can remain clean. But that is just me being nitpicky.
